Whether I select product query or category query, the slider will show all products and/or categories and not just what I have selected. I don\'t want to waste time customizing this if this doesn\'t work.

Any suggestions appreciated

Welcome to our forum.
Please double check product query settings, make sure you didn't check other options, product query not just based on selected categories but also other options will mix to query products.

I just double check the plugin, all works fine here.
