I followed the video and created a new grid post. To set this for my homepage I created a new page, pasted the code, and set to static. Nothing happens, nor can I set the grid to any of my category pages. Is it because I'm using a child theme (Foodie Pro)? If so, can I still set up grid pages?

Welcome to our forum.

I guess, your home page is using page template that’s why the content part might be loaded different way(not loading) you will need to contact theme author to consult how you can display 3rd party shortcode on a home page. and there is php shortcode provided for post grid you will need to use php code under theme file.

Regards
