If using a custom filter, what is it being used? is it a WP Category and its SubCategories? I watched the video showing the Blue|blue,gray etc example- but what is "Blue" is that a WP category?

Yes, not just category, might be any custom taxonomies & terms. like product category, tags. hope you understand.

Thank you. I have watched the video. I am able to get the drop down to appear with options I add in the filter.. but what about the post is used to select? In the example is "blue" a category? a tag? a product attribute? How do I use this if filtering posts and not products?

I sort of understand. So if I have a WP category called "State" how would I write the argument in the custom filter area? I don't know the convention of how the argument needs to be written. Seems like it uses pipe "|" and commas but not sure..

Would it be written like this

State| sub cat of state 1, State| sub cat of state 2… nth option
