The thumbnail picture (featured image) is showing twice on the homepage where the blog posts are. The picture is not in the post so it's not that reason. The picture is only set as a featured picture but for some reason I am seeing it above the text and below the text in Post Grid on the homepage. Once I click on it to go to the actual post, everything is fine. Any ideas?

There is default thumbnail come from Media source settings under

Layout settings > Media source

You probably also added thumbnail under layout editor, you don't need in this case. so you can remove it from layout editor.
