i have feature links on the home page that i want to link to the each corresponding accordion.

You can open accordion by passing id parameter at the end of url, please see the demo here
http://pickplugins.com/demo/accordions/open-via-url-parameter/?id=2
id start from 0(zero) will open first item and so on.
