How can I display the image in a post in the post grid, without adding a featured image. I have tried adding a layout, and it seems odd that there is no option to use the first image in a post. Only the one post where I added a featured image, has an image here:

If you want to use an image from content instead of the feature image, you've to customize your layout. Kindly follow the steps -
Step One: Go to the Edit mode of your layout.

Step Two: Expand the Media element option panel and disable the feature image.

Then expand the First images from the content option and enable it.
