I brought a theme that use buddypress plugin and it seems like buddypress email verification function has been disabled in this theme. So I installed user verification plugin and setup shortcode [user_verification_check] on activation page.
I test registered an account and got email with link like https://pubject.com/activate-your-profile/?activation_key=c7fd6596c6048b013c4ea74760ba68bd
but the account cannot be verified and the key c7fd6596c6048b013c4ea74760ba68bd is not working.
Is it buddypress also generated a key that cause the problem?

The form i see on your "Activate Your Account" page does not come from our plugin, probably use 3rd party shortcode,
