I updated the plugin from 1.7 to 2.03 and the shortcodes displayed on the dropdowns instead of the content. Luckily I backed up the previous version. Why would this happen? Does this mean I won't be able to update the plugin without reentering all the content?

Apologize for late reply,
Could not understand your issue clearly. is that Accordions plugin you are talking about ?
Can you please go edit accordions and save/update settings once again and see whats happening.
