Resend User Verification Link Email not working

In the User Verification plugin under Email templates I want to enable the option to resend activation key. However even if I set the option to yes and save the changes, it does not do so. So the option is back to 'no' and I am not able to resend activation keys.

I already deactivated and uninstalled the plugin. Why isn't it working?
