Redirect after creating an account

Is there a way to make it so that once someone has clicked to create an account they are either directed to a page that I can have the verbiage state to keep an eye out for the activation email or a pop up that comes up? Right now it just instantly refreshes and goes to our forum page but gives no notification that the email would be coming and the account successfully created.
