Hi, I'm running Easy Digital Downloads with Front End Submissions for selling videos. Currently I'm embedding videos in the download pages and the thumbs created are stills. I would like them to be the video that's embedded. Does this plugin support EDD? And using the plugin and Post Gird Post Options will the EDD shortcode [downloads excerpt="false" columns="4"] display the video so users can play the video from the thumb as in your example? Thank you.

The feature you are looking for is not available or will not work the way you want to display videos in post grid thumbnail area.
In Post Grid there is a filter hook for thumbnail area, so you can override thumbnail image HTML by your HTML, that's mean if you can manage to display embedded video by shortcode or functions you can hooked up with it.
