In our country you would NEVER publish a salary in a job offer. I know that I can set it to "negotiable", but it would cause less confusion if I could eliminate the salary field from the job creation form alltogether in the settings.

By action hook you can remove salary fields, please see the documentation, i just add the code, you will need to add the code under theme functions.php file
